Issues With My Hair
I dyed my hair a dark brown/auburn color about three weeks ago. I know, I know. I have had blonde hair my whole life and here I was going to the other extreme. I just thought that it might give my hair a rest. I have been highlighting my hair for about 4 years and it had gotten really unhealthy, SO I went dark to give it a break. Well, when my hair lady did it, she did red highlights and the bottom dark brown. It really looked like just my roots were red though, so I have not been liking that about it since the beginning.
-----------------------------------------------------
SO last night I bought some dark Medium Mahogany Brown Loreal hair color and colored it myself. It was fine until I washed it out and the roots were even MORE red and the bottom was still really dark brown.
-----------------------------------------------------
I have debated whether to just go this week and get my hair lady to fix it back blonde (which I will do eventually anyway). Glen told me today that he wasn't ready to see the dark go. SO - I went and got some just regular dark brown to see if I can get it all the same color. All I want is my roots and the rest of my hair to be the same. Is that too much to ask? If this doesn't work, I WILL go get it back to blonde this week.
-----------------------------------------------------
I posted a picture of myself with this dark hair color and took it off in the same night because I thought I looked like a man with a wig. If I can get a good one where it looks like me, I'll post it. Don't get your hopes up though. You will probably be disappointed in the way it looks anyway. My whole family (mom, dad, brother, kids) HATE it. So you would be with the majority if you didn't like it.

I hear ya on the roots thing. I am coming to terms with the fact that I can no longer just highlight my dark hair to hide the few white hairs I have... No. I apparently must get an all over hair coloring done (and soon!) so that my white STREAK doesn't show anymore. I blame the baby. (And a streak on me just doesn't look "cool" like on actors... like Rogue on XMen, you know?)

I highlighted my hair for several years. About a year ago I tried to get my hair dyed back to brown. Which is my original hair color. As I was sitting in the chair, I mentioned that I had always wanted to have auburn highlights. My South African hair stylist, who obviously didn't get my English well, put red dye on my whole head. I looked like a scary goth kind of redhead. It was frightening. Thankfully it faded before our furlough. I had it lightened a bit while in the states...but now...one year later...I am finally back to my original color. And its where I plan to stay for awhile. I hope your hair color woes end well. At least your husband likes it!

WHAT!! You're not BLOND? I have never imagined you any other way. For more reasons than one :-) Just kidding... I know that you are still beautiful whatever the color of your hair. I DO want to see pictures though. Love you, Reese

Oh girl, I totally know the feeling! I have highlighted my hair since I was in 8th grade or so. My sister-in-law does my hair and usually it has turned out really well (she just did the highlights) and then one day I wanted to go a little darker and it went SO wrong! (-see my post in Sept titled "Adventures in Hair Coloring".) The color in those pics is decent, but after a while my blonde started to come back through and my brown started to look green! SOOO, we had to dye it again and it came out almost black! I felt like I had ink in my hair. It has since faded a little, but I miss my blonde too and have the dilema of having my sister-in-law do it again or just pay the money and have someone else fix it without offending her.
That was long...but I really think you should post your photo again. I'm sure it's great!

Didn't you have a photo of you and Glen on here last week? I noticed your hair was a little different. Looked good.
Sorry for the trauma you've had to suffer to get it just right.
When I chopped my hair a couple months ago, I vowed to stop coloring it... it's all natural right now... the upkeep was just too expensive and damaging the other way. Good luck!

I have had blond hair my entire life too (with the exception of highlighting it). I couldn't imagine my hair brown!! Wish I saw the photo!!!

Haven't got to see your hair yet but we do know that redheads are the coolest. I think maybe puple would look pretty cool. You would look good in any hair color so go for whatever, but if i had a vote i think blonde is you. Speaking of hair i wish i had some but what i do have needs to be cut, so let me know when your available.

Oh I want to see it! I've had the red roots before too. When your hair isn't the way you like, you just can't feel good about yourself. I hope the darker dye works...Brunettes have fun too!

Well, I was able to see the pic of you with dark hair on my bloglines, and then was going crazy that it wasn't on your blog! Now I know why. LOL. I think you're going to damage your hair by putting more stuff on it. I think if you really don'tlike it, you should go back to a pro to get it fixed, but she's going to have to strip your hair to get the color out, which might also damage it. AND I had showed my hubby your dark hair, and your blonde, and he thought you looked cute both ways, and neither of us thought you looked like a man!
