5 Things You May Not Know About Me

Some of you may know a couple of these, and you may not. So here is MY attempt at the 5 things that you may not know about me that Lindsay did. It kind of looks fun to me.

  1. I can make my tongue roll like a worm. It is funny how many people are impressed and engrossed by this. (Especially in High School)
  2. My new find last month was the electric blanket that we got as a wedding gift (over 10 years ago!!) and had never even gotten it out of the bag. IT IS AWESOME!!!
  3. My family was written about in a Best Seller book and eventually made into a Hollywood movie. Friday Night Lights. Yeah, I know. Kind of different.
  4. We are kennel/crate training our puppy and I think it is the BEST idea ever. Whoever came up with this is a GENIUS!!! BTW - She is doing GREAT!!!
  5. One of my goals since I was a little girl is to bring someone to baptism. I have always thought that it would be SO cool to lead someone to Christ. I DO think that it is a little odd for that to have been a goal since I was young. Not the most usual goal of a child. It hasn't happened yet, that I know of.

  • Billy Bob Thornton plays my dad and Connie Britton plays my mom. Their daughter in the movie is suppose to be me. (WITH BROWN HAIR!! THAT WAS SO WRONG!)

  • Wow. I "know" someone famous! That makes me famous by proxy, right?

  • I knew all but #5! I saw that movie waaaay before I ever knew you, and I've always wanted to watch it again. Just so I'd pay more attention..since I DO know the people in it now! =) And whats up with Billy Bob playing your dad...thats almost as bizarre as them making you have brown hair! They don't even resemble eachother! Your dad is much cuter. hehe Billy Bob is...well....nasty. lol

  • Hey Nicole,
The whole time I watched the movie, I could not relax because I was so critical of EVERYTHING. I KNEW how things REALLY were. Oh well. It is fun in a lot of ways. I remember YOUR baptism. What an awesome night that was. Do you remember who showed up unexpected? I DO!!!:-)
    Love ya, Reese

  • What the heck? I'm totally going to rent that movie now.

Someone made a movie about my family, too. It was called "Mommie Dearest."

  • I just want to say I LOVE your title!!! I tell my youngest (almost 3) that he is a sassafrass all the time and he says back to me, no you a frassasass".

ANyway, I thought you were another Nicole from my friend Tracey's blog (just another mommy).....but you aren't. I like your list though.

Sorry I ramble....it is who I am .... mother of 4 boys here...

  • I can't find that movie. I'm still looking.

  • Fun list!

Seeing someone baptized is so amazing. And knowing you were a part of that is very fulfilling indeed. You've probably already had results, but didn't witness the "new beginning" per se. You are doing good things, Nicole. Keep on being a shining example to those around you. If you don't see the "fruits of your labors" now, you will in the hereafter. If anything, you've done it for 4 tiny people who live under the same roof as you!

PS: Bloglines was right, I just back posted because the snow thing happened yesterday... it's a journal and I want it accurate. Sorry to throw you off. ;)

  • Just found your blog via not-so-deep Denise! Your list is pretty cool! I also think your new year's resolutions/ goals are great! You've inspired me (here on the 6th -- it's not too late, is it?) to think about some for myself!

Cool Running has some great 5k training plans. HSU and ACU both generally have a 5k in May that you could do!

  • Oh Wow! So can any of your children roll their tongue too?

    have a great weekend Nicole!

  • wow how exciting to have a movie made of your family. Now i'm going to either have to go rent the movie or read the book, SNORT who am i kidding like i have time to read a book LOL I'll have to rent the movie and hopefully find time to watch it :) Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'm glad you did cuz it brought me to your blog and I enjoyed reading yours. I like your list and I like your new years goal.. OH boy do i need to have the goal of trying to keep my house clean. I'm soooooooo not a housekeeper. I really like your goal of being an example to your kids and those around you. There is a song and I can't for the life of me remember who wrote it but it says Lord i want to be just like you, cuz he want to be just like me, I want to be a holy example for his innocent eyes to see. Let me be a living Bible Lord that my little boy can read, I want to be just like You cuz He wants to be like me. I love that song even though it was a dad singing about his little boy.. it has been my goal as a parent.

  • I have to go rent that movie now!

By Blogger Michelle, at 11:28 AM

  • I think I'm going to have to check out this movie!

By Blogger Mall Worker, at 12:11 PM

  • I'm on my way out the door to get that movie now!! So cool! I can only curl my tongue in the front but my sister can do the snake thing with hers, it used to gross me out.

And it is a VERY cool goal for a kid to set, to see someone come to the Lord. I led someone and had the opportunity to actually baptize them a couple of years ago. She was my neighbour and her hubby soon followed after her. They've been attending our church eversince. You never know who you'll influence, we're always to live by example - you don't know someone might have been watching your life and came to the Lord on their own. We all have a sphere of influence - until the day we meet the Lord. I think that is so awesome you realized it at such a young age.

Good luck on the puppy training, I was never very good (code word for consistant) with it myself.

p.s. Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog, I like meeting new people. (I suffer from the same comment envy that flip flop mamma does...) ;-)

  • I just tagged you with that meme from today - have fun!

By Blogger Beck, at 6:44 PM

  • Hi Nicole, you were kind enough to visit my blog, so I thought I'd check our yours. Glad I did. I'll have to check out the movie sometime. I'm all for crate training. My retired greyhound loves his crate. At the race track, he was housed with other greyhounds so it took him a while to get used to being alone in the crate, but now he loves it.

  • Nicole --

I just read this post, and a girl in one of my bible studies at church had mentioned that that movie was about her town. I don't know if it's a small town or not, but her name is Jodi. (she's in her mid twenties)

Also -- about the Ted Dekker books -- PLEASE keep reading. The Martyr's Song is the least "scary" of his books. It is actually the backstory to his "Martyr's Song Series", which he wrote first. All of his books are intense!!!! Let me know if you read them and what you think!

    Blessings,Karla

  • I love lists like this! It's so cool to read about other people.

That was the movie Tim McGraw made right? That is SOOO cool!

By Blogger Angel, at 1:05 PM

  • That is super cool about the movie!

I sure wish I had done the crate training thing with Razzy & Rocco, boy, that would have saved alot of mess...Believe me!

Your #5, is awesome & being able to pray with someone to except Christ is honestly one of the most incredible things.

  • I'm enjoying reading through various old posts of yours. Earlier I dragged my husband to the computer and said, "Isn't she the prettiest woman you ever saw?" Then I just now read that about FNL and he's really going to be impressed! He loved that movie and the book.
