High School Musical

Tonight me, my girls, my mil and a close friend went to see a local production of High School Musical. I had dreaded it all day. Not because I didn't want to go, but I just had the worst day. Everything seemed to go wrong. EVERYTHING. If I started telling you, it would take up too much space. So just trust that I TRULY felt like the world was against me for some odd reason for the entire day.

My girls and I LOVE the movie, so when we found out that a close friend of Avery's was going to be IN the production, we were SO there! My friend Cindy got us all tickets. (Thanks Cindy!!) I didn't know what to expect. These were KIDS putting on a musical. I was thinking along the lines of the programs I go to at the girls' school. Boy was I wrong. This was the most amazing thing I have seen in a long time. The lead, Troy Bolton was played by a kid that goes to church with us (5th grader!!!) He was AWESOME!!! The choreography of the cast was so great too. I never thought that someone could get around 50 KIDS to be all together. The youngest was around 5. It was crazy. All of their voices were amazing. I truly wouldn't be surprised if one of them goes on to be big. Is that silly? They were just SO GOOD!!!!

I sat by Avery and it was just so cute to hear her (or was that me?) sing to all the songs. SHE has an amazing voice too, but is too shy to sing in front of a crowd. It was just a fun to watch HER watch her friend and be supportive.

If you live in town, GO SEE IT! They are having two more showings. Sat. and Sun. I believe. Hopefully you won't sit in front of a lady that coughs in your hair like I did. (See!! The world WAS against me today. NOW do you believe me?)

  • Yeah, I'm with Denise. I saw it posted at Cameron's school that is was playing at the Paramount, but when I saw how much...yeah no. LOL Especially since my kids have never even watch that movie. I'll take your word. =) Glad you guys had so much fun. Avery DOES have a great voice...you are right about that.

Sorry you had a bad day yesterday. Hope this weekend turns around for you....even though you can hardly do anything w/ all of this ice. hehe

  • sounds like you guys had a blast! I took SlowMo to see the Nutcracker once, and some teenager was behind us complaining the whole time that SlowMo's head was too big and in her way. It was stadium seating!! SlowMo's head is not big (theBeast is another story.LOL) and there's no way her head was in the way when the girl was sitting higher up than us!!

  • It was good! I am continually amazed by the young talent in our city. Hope that was the beginning of a good weekend for you, Nicole. Doesn't look like we'll be getting out to run off any stress!

  • You know, I've never seen High School Musical. Is there much of a romantic plot? I'd like to watch it with my 7 year old, but I like to keep romance down to a minimum.

  • I have a friend that directs youth theather and I have seen many plays she's directed. If kids want to be in a play, they take it seriously (by cooperating well) and they all turn out so great!

(I got to sit in on kid auditions with her once and THAT was the coolest thing I've ever seen! Kids that want to be on stage are AMAZING!)

  • What a cute thing, Hannah is obsessed with High School Musical. They were having a contest on the radio to win concert tickets. Moms had to go in to shave their heads...Hannah was mad I wouldn't do it.
