Picture of Mom / Avery's Big Day
This is going to be a double post. First, I am going to post a picture of my Momma for my friend Stephanie. I just think this is the cutest idea. Sadly I don't have a scanner, so I am using a recent picture. This picture was taken a few months ago with my precious Avery. (Whom the second part of this post is about anyway)
My momma is one of my best friends. I tell her pretty much everything without holding back. She is a great listener and one of the most generous people I know. She loves to give gifts to people. She loves the element of surprise on their faces and the joy in their smiles.
I want to be a mom like her. I want to love my kids the way she loves me and my brother. I have cried many tears thinking about just that. The story that she has told over and over again to me is that when we were little, she would lay in bed and cry because her heart hurt with so much love for us. She would give up ANYTHING for me. (Except the treadmill that she says she is going to start using THIS week. HA!! Love you momma!)
THEN there is Avery. She is in the 4th grade and tomorrow she is taking the TAKS test. It is a standardized test and Avery is taking the writing test tomorrow. She did not do well on the practice test a week ago, so she is VERY nervous for the test. PLEASE say a quick prayer for her to do well. She is such a smart girl and I know she can do it if she will relax and concentrate.
So there you have it. My 2 girls for the day. My Momma and my Avery.

I HATE the standardized tests!! I'll keep her in my thoughts tomorrow - I really hate the anxiety it causes for the kids. Tell her to just do her best - that's all anyone can do!!! :-)

Aw! Sweet pic! I sent up a little prayer for Avery. I remember how stressed some of my students used to get during TAKS.
And what the hay? I just clicked your link to get over here and noticed the name didn't change way back when I corrected it! I'll correct it when I add the new links some day soon (hopefully).

Hot mama!
Hope Miss Avery's test goes ok, I know some kids have a hard time with the standardized tests. It's unfortunate.
Make her something good and hearty for breakfast!

What an adorable picture! Sounds like you have a great relationship with your mom...that's awesome!!
My daughter (3rd grade) is also taking the TAKS today. They have gotten the kids so riled up over this test it is just unbelievable! I, personally, don't put much stock into a standardized test, but the great state of Texas says the kids must take it...what can we do?? I'll say a prayer for Avery and hope that she does well!

What a sassy blog you have. I am glad I stumbled upon you.
Your mom looks gorgeous and hip. I love her hair!

Both of the ladies in your life are very pretty!!
Avery will do great - greater is He who is in her than that which is in the world!
By Unknown, at 1:25 PM
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE your Mom! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE AVERY! Student teaching with your mom was such a great experience. She really became a friend then! She is such a great mom and such a great grandmother too! Loved the picture!
As for the TAKS test...I KNOW she will do just fine! She is so smart. I was a lot like Avery. My nerves could get in the way of any test no matter how much I studied or was prepared. I'll say a prayer that she is calm and that she can retain every BIT of knowledge about the writing portion!
By Allison, at 2:08 PM
Just a beautiful photo of your mom and Avery - the joy and love just radiates from their faces.
Good luck tomorrow Avery!!!!!!!!

Hope she did well! :)

Such a sweet picture of Avery and your Mom. One of my favorite things is to watch the admiration that Kaylee has for my Mom, there is nothing like it.
Avery will do fine. As a former teacher to 3rd & 4th graders I hate the pressure the teachers, students, and schools are under over these tests. I wish they used them for the sole purpose to see where a child needs extra help and not as a grade for everyone. I am off my soapbox now:) I will definitely say some prayers for Avery.
By Erica, at 3:24 PM
What a great pic!
Poor Avery... I have 2 girlfriends who teach 4th grade and both say how much Texas puts so much pressure on the kids these days to preform well on the TAKS test. I wish it wasn't so stressful for her. I'm sure she will do great. She definitly deserves her favorite dinner tonight :)

By Ashley, at 7:13 PM
I'm a complete numbnut because I've just realized your 'old blog' is old!!! I was reading away and then noticed that the last post was made in July!!!!
By Unknown, at 8:17 PM
Oh,how I love your Mom...and Avery reminds me sooo much of you. Sweet, sweet family.
Love you, Reese

Great picture-I'm sure she did fine....and PS-standarized tests are SO UNFAIR!! I'm sure you already knew that though. I have had many BRIGHT students do not so well on those tests. I think they just don't meaure one's intelligence, only test taking skills.
By Lindsey, at 7:00 PM
Hey! You know how I love cool MOM'S ! I am of the cool MOM'S club. I love the picture of her with Avery. Can't wait to officially meet your and your family. You are way way blessed but you know that! And the beautiful part is that you do and you honor God for it! Hope Avery's test anxiety is relieved.
By Lynn, at 10:08 PM
Ooooh, your Mom is so hip, I love her do! Great striping of the hair. That just rocks!
By Anonymous, at 1:54 AM
I CANNOT believe Avery is in 4th grade! It doesn't seem like long ago when she was in kinder and I got to be her student teacher. She is such a PRECIOUS and SMART girl, and I hope all went well for her and the TAKS. I def. said a prayer!
