Valentine Gifts

This year Glen gave me the most AWESOME phone for an early Valentine's gift. I HEART it so much. It is pink and everything. (The picture turned out blurry - but trust me. It's cute!!) I am married to the most thoughtful man who is SO generous. I sometimes wonder why God loves me so much to bless me with such an amazing man!!

Glen and I usually don't do big Valentine gifts. I really don't like him getting me flowers because it just feels a little wasteful to me to buy something that will die in a day or two. So we usually do something very small. My favorite gifts are homemade. I love him to do homemade cards with lots of thoughts on them. I also like to make cards for him and other crafty love actions. (Not the kind you are thinking, but that too) :) Hee Hee!!

Someone asked today that when girls SAY they don't want anything for Valentine's day, do they REALLY want you to surprise them with a gift?? OR do they really mean don't get them anything??? So what do YOU say on Valentine's? Give me, Give me... OR don't get me anything?? Do you do BIG gifts for each other OR keep it simple?

  • I LOVE your new phone. How cool. Very lucky, you are! We do small things for Valentines day usually. The thing I have done for Jim every year for 27 years is make him a cherry cheesecake. It's become a tradition around here. Kind of silly but it's fun. One year he brought lunch to me at my office and some delicious candies. We sat in the lunch room and ate together while everyone that walked by gawked at us. It was funny. Those are my favorite kinds of things.

  • We don't really have traditions...I used to buy Kirk a pair of Old Navy valentine boxers every year, but that got old. haha It usually depends on whether or not there is something that we want/need around Valentine's day. Kirk was wanting a new tv really bad..so we got one & called it our early Valentine's Day gift to eachother. Romantic huh? LOL I am the same on the flowers.....they are so overpriced around Valentines...and like you said..they die! Kirk usually still gets me them though....even though I tell him not to. The nerve! hehe...he's a sweetie. He brings Cameron flowers to her school too...my dad always did that for me on Valentines..and I remember it making me feel SO special..so I wanted him to do that for Cameron too.

How about I write a novel? HA! SORRY! I got you a cheesy little teacher Valentine gift. By cheesy...I mean CHEESY. LOL

  • Cool Phone!
I am the same way with flowers. I hate the thought of spending money on something that will be dead in a few days!!

We usually just get each other cards. I have Valentine Stocking for the kids that I fill and they open on Valentines. You can see them on my blog.

  • We keep it simple and it's very random what we do for each other. Sometimes he gets me flowers, sometimes he just does something like my favorite candy. This year he got us tickets to an awesome A Capella show on the 16th! So excited!

  • well, I usually keep my day pretty simple. I begin by dodging phone calls and showers of flowers, and then I go through the ritual of running away from all the girls coming after me with all sorts of candy and stuff. It's pretty exhausting. From there I just read the like 30 cards that I get every year and then I guess I just take a little walk over the Brooklyn bridge and dump all of that crap in the river. That's just what I do on an average day. Nothing too big.

  • I LOVE your new Valentine phone. TOO CUTE!! I really don't care to much about gifts on Vday. I LOVE to just go out to dinner and relax. We have started a tradition in our house that the boys(we have 2 boys and 2 girls)buy little gifts for the girls. And the girls buy for the boys. (I guess this year it will be thrown off a bit because of Aliviah.) That is really fun. We have dessert and open the kids gifts when we get home from an early dinner. Kinda cheesy...but fun. This year I think we have agreed to get each other a new washing machine. THE BEST GIFT EVER for a momma with lots of babies!! Hope you have a great week!

  • I LOVE THAT PHONE!!!!! My Princess would love that phone also :)

This is going to our 18 valentines spent together. We never really ever did big gifts for V-day.. normally something sweet and small. Since having kids we normally don't do gifts at all. We might go out to eat just the two of us or something on the weekend around valentines day. but we both normally say don't get me anything.
I feel the same way about the flowers.. they are pretty but they don't last so why spend the money.

  • growing up, my dad would have flowers and chocolate for my mom and me on the table in the morning before we woke up. i never realized how much that meant until i got married! on our first valentines day, i woke up and there were no flowers or chocolates on the table! i have to admit that i was a little dissappointed, but it wasn't zach's fault because he had no clue. now, all i need is some chocolate and i am a happy wife!

  • Cute phone! Wade gave me a pink phone for my birhtday. What awesome husbands we have!
We usually do something small for Valentine's Day. I don't like to spend alot of money. But, sometimes Wade surprises me and I don't complain:-).

  • I am going to have to agree with everyone else and say that I love the pink phone! So cute!

To answer your question we keep it simple. If we can we will go to lunch together just the two of us sometime during the week of Valentine's if not on Valentine's depending on when the girls are in school. Then for dinner I will try to make all things in a heart or red/pink theme with fun plates and napkins for all of us to enjoy. I love to celebrate fun holidays as a family. We usually just get cards for each other and maybe a small gift...the card means the most to me because it takes thought. We do get the girls fun pajamas and a little something else. There's my novel to add to Anna's:)

  • love it.

i also think flowers are such a waste. i'd rather gabe spent the money on something that does, erm, die. :)

  • That's real cute!!! For Valentine's I am following my mom's tradition and making the cheesecake but with blue berries. I made it last year and might as well make it a tradition. We just stick to simple tho...we're newly weds...there is plenty to do. :D
